AFC Bournemouth — motion graphics work produced during the placement.

AFC Bournemouth were founded in 1899 and spent much of their history in the lower tiers of English football. Under manager Eddie Howe, the club rose from near-relegation out of the Football League to the Premier League — one of modern football's standout turnaround stories. As a lifelong fan, working inside the club's design team, even briefly, was a personal milestone.

What I did

The creative team moves at the pace of the fixture list. In less than a week, I contributed to matchday graphics and print layouts, gaining insight into day-to-day production inside a Premier League football club.

Matchday graphics

For the home matchday graphic, I built the design around the kit itself — drawing directly from its colours and patterns to create a clear visual link between the team on pitch and its digital presence.

The away kit required a different approach. A new colour system and visual mood meant reworking the same format to reflect a completely different personality while staying within the club's identity.

Brochure design

I designed four cover variations for the matchday brochure, each staying within the club's brand guidelines while testing different visual directions. Presenting multiple options allowed me to compare approaches rather than commit to a single route early.

From there, I designed two editorial spreads for a player interview, focusing on hierarchy, readability, and restraint. The layouts were intentionally minimal — supporting the story rather than competing with it.

Kit posters

In my own time, I created two unofficial posters celebrating that season's home and away kits. Self-initiated explorations in composition and visual identity — an opportunity to experiment outside the constraints of production briefs.
